Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Dear CPC Community,

Dear CPC Community,

For the years 2024 through 2025, I have the honor and privilege of serving my community as the Collegiate Panhellenic Council at Georgia Tech’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Vice President. Growing up as a Jewish, queer, woman, I learned early on the importance of diversity and intentional inclusivity in all spaces. CPC at our school serves as a designated place for women of all backgrounds to come together and support one another, which is something I personally value greatly, and strive to promote.

Over the past few years our community has made intentional progress to develop an inclusive and equitable culture. While CPC has only begun on our journey, we have implemented various necessary changes to our systems to help drive us in the correct directions led by our DEI Vice President and the DEI panel composed of representatives from each chapter. Collectively, we recognize that this is still just the beginning of our journey and strive to continue working on ways to further nurture a culture of DEI mindedness.

The CPC DEI VP & DEI Panel have three main priorities to facilitate the growth of inclusivity in our community:

1. Standardize DEI education, training, and practices across all CPC chapters, while promoting individually tailored DEI programs for each chapter’s unique needs and values. Each year, the DEI VP works directly with each chapter’s DEI representative to create an individualized strategic plan for their members.

2. Build a holistic culture of DEI-mindedness and intentional inclusivity within executive committees so that DEI is implied in the duties of each role rather than an addition. This will occur through intentional education and initiative for all members of chapter leadership to develop and drive change in their respective positions. This includes implicit bias, DEI in recruitment, and DEI in leadership training for all chapters.

3. Promote DEI initiatives through Georgia Tech and connect our community to additional resources. This includes the promotion of remaining on-campus resources through the Department of Arts, Belonging, and Community. We also strive to promote our community members’ involvement in multicultural, international, and religious-based student organizations.

As we continue our work with prioritizing DEI in our community, we value any input from you, our community, as we hope to serve you and provide a space for belonging. To make myself accessible to all members of our community you may contact the DEI VP at  deivp.gtcpc@gmail.com with your questions, comments, or concerns. We look forward to the coming years of serving our community.

Sincerely,

Sarah Schare

Collegiate Panhellenic Council at Georgia Tech Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Vice President
