Emily’s Story

“As soon as I got into Greek life, I realized this was exactly what I needed. Coming into this school, I didn’t really have a ton of confidence; I was awful at public speaking. When I came here, I met some really cool people that didn't take me for granted. I felt like that helped me gain a lot more confidence in myself. I ended up being on Exec for my chapter, so I had to stand up at the front of chapter every single week, and it helped make my public speaking so much better and ended up helping me a lot at work. I couldn't just sit there and do my work and hand it in. I needed to go up to people and present and be able to reach out for things to do. That’s what helped me get my full time job at NASA. I think being surrounded by people who are constantly building you up is important--and not just in your own sorority. I have friends in every single chapter on campus--through classes, club, the lacrosse team-- and they’re all just as supportive as the girls in my own chapter.”
