Hannah’s Story
“My new initiative Ignite is a community driven monthly meetup for creative and entrepreneurial minded women to find a community that they can go to when they’re struggling with something in a creative pursuit or finding ways to overcoming roadblocks to the goals they’ve set for themselves. I met up with a mentor of mine and she’s helped me to develop this idea and find a way to make this a space for girls to gather and discuss these things. When I first came to Tech, I was kind of frustrated with the level of support Tech has for the arts. Since I had this issue, I figured that other people might have it as well and could also benefit from having a space to come together. We’ve had one Ignite so far, and a majority of the people that RSVPed and came to the event were CPC women. It was awesome to see that people that didn’t even know me wanted to come support my ideas and see what it was all about. It’s a hard thing to do--to branch out and attend something you don’t know anything about or haven’t even met me as the creator, but it’s really cool to see that girls are willing to try new things and support others within the community.”
